Modern Slavery Policy
At Lime Splice Australia, we believe that quality products should be sourced responsibly and ethically. We are committed to conducting our business with integrity and to working with suppliers who share our commitment to fair labour practices, safe working conditions and respect for human rights. This policy outlines the principles we follow to help minimise the risk of modern slavery within our business and supply chain.
Modern Slavery Policy
Review date: August 2027
1. Our commitment
Lime Splice Australia is committed to operating ethically, responsibly and with respect for human rights.
We do not tolerate modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, child labour, debt bondage, servitude or other forms of worker exploitation within our business operations or supply chain.
We support the principles and objectives of the Australian Modern Slavery Act 2018 and are committed to taking reasonable steps to identify and reduce modern slavery risks associated with the products we purchase and supply.
2. Our business
Lime Splice Australia is a small Australian-owned business supplying gifts, handmade soap, jewellery, ribbons, organza bags and related products to schools, retailers, organisations and individual customers.
Our products may be manufactured or sourced within Australia and overseas. We recognise that modern slavery risks can be greater in complex international manufacturing and material-supply chains.
3. Supplier expectations
Lime Splice Australia expects its suppliers, manufacturers and business partners to:
-
comply with all applicable employment and workplace laws;
-
provide workers with lawful wages, hours and working conditions;
-
employ workers voluntarily and without coercion;
-
not use forced, bonded, trafficked or compulsory labour;
-
not use unlawful child labour;
-
provide a workplace free from discrimination, abuse and harassment;
-
respect workers’ freedom of movement and right to retain their identification documents;
-
maintain safe and healthy working environments; and
-
communicate similar expectations to their own suppliers and contractors.
-
4. Responsible purchasing
When selecting and reviewing suppliers, Lime Splice Australia considers available information about:
-
the supplier’s location and manufacturing practices;
-
product origin and supply-chain transparency;
-
ethical sourcing or workplace policies;
-
product quality and safety;
-
the supplier’s reputation and length of operation; and
-
any identified concerns relating to worker exploitation or unlawful conduct.
Where practical, we seek to build ongoing relationships with reputable suppliers rather than frequently changing to unknown sources.
5. Responding to concerns
Lime Splice Australia will take concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices seriously.
Where a credible concern is identified, we may:
-
request further information from the supplier;
-
seek evidence of corrective action;
-
suspend further purchasing while the concern is investigated;
-
discontinue the supplier relationship; or
-
report suspected unlawful conduct to the appropriate authority.
Our response will consider the seriousness of the concern, the available evidence and the welfare of any potentially affected workers.
6. Reporting concerns
Employees, contractors, suppliers, customers and members of the community are encouraged to report concerns relating to modern slavery or unethical conduct connected with Lime Splice Australia’s operations or supply chain.
Concerns may be submitted confidentially through the contact details published on the Lime Splice Australia website. Reports made genuinely and in good faith will be treated respectfully and reviewed appropriately.
7. Continuous improvement
As a small business, our ability to conduct formal supply-chain audits is limited. However, we are committed to continually improving our supplier enquiries, purchasing decisions, record keeping and understanding of modern slavery risks.
We will review this policy periodically and update it when there are significant changes to our business, suppliers or relevant Australian legislation.
8. Approval
This policy has been approved by the owner and management of Lime Splice Australia.
